Unique Approach

Beder has partnered with Shout, a leading mental health charity, and Samaritans, an established and highly respected charity, working across UK and Ireland focused on reducing suicide.

The aims of these partnerships are to harness the specialist knowledge of Shout and Samaritans, as well as promote and further both charities incredible work in order to conquer the stigma and underestimation of these incredibly important issues.

Our Vision

To challenge the stigma surrounding mental health and suicide prevention, stimulate a dialogue to softly raise awareness and provide a platform for us all to play our part in normalising the conversation around these important societal issues.

Our Mission

To lead the way collaboratively, build meaningful and authentic relationships with our partners and supporters whilst creating greater accessibility to information and opportunities to promote self care and manage our mental health.

OUR VALUES

These three values – collaborative leadership; sustainable, long-term impact; soft-touch and personal approach, are deeply rooted in everything we do and are the driving force behind the way we operate

Collaborative Leadership

We are not here to compete with the other existing charities. We have our own unique approach and believe in working alongside other organisations to further their amazing work while achieving our common goal.

Sustainable, long term impact

We strive for our work to have genuine, longterm and sustainable impact. We believe that initiating conversations and creating safe spaces where a range of perspectives and experiences can be heard is key to this.

Soft touch and personal approach

We prioritise taking a soft-touch approach to raising awareness, with empathy at the forefront of everything we do. We want to help make talking about what is on your mind less daunting and overwhelming.

Our Goals

Beder intends to increase understanding and reduce fear around the topics of mental health and suicide in order to conquer the stigma surrounding these incredibly important, yet underestimated, issues.

Beder will reach young, diverse and engaged audiences through a range of exciting partnerships and initiatives that will incorporate educational, wellness and recreational activities.

BEDER MIRJAN

Beder was a giant of a young man, with a witty sense of humour and infectious laugh, who was gentle, caring, and kind natured. He was incredibly intelligent, hard working and in love with anything related to aircraft, flying, computers and watches, amongst other things.

Beder was always surrounded by love and due to start university with a bright future ahead of him. However, he took the unexpected decision to take his own life at 18 in April 2017.

We will never know the exact reasons for his decision, which makes coming to terms with his choice incredibly hard to process for those fortunate enough to have crossed paths with him. However, we hope that Beder is in peace and free from the dark thoughts that clouded his frame of mind.

Everyone who had the chance to meet Beder will have memories, experiences and anecdotes to cherish and find their own ways of remembering their time with him to keep his memory alive.

As a family, we have taken the collective decision to start a charity in his name, Beder. Whilst we understand that is not possible to re-write history and have him with us today, we believe there is a silver lining that can be found from our darkest days.

Beder, as a charity, will work to increase awareness around mental health and suicide prevention in order to reduce the number of people suffering in silence and feeling that taking their own life is the only option.
